A good membership should fit the way your clinic cares for its customers. You might offer a monthly preventive-care plan, a yearly wellness membership, or several tiers with different service and product benefits.
Übik connects recurring membership payments with the promotions your team uses at checkout. You choose the price, billing frequency, and benefits. Stripe collects the recurring dues in your clinic's connected account, and Übik uses the customer's membership status to make the linked benefits available when staff prepare a bill.
The Money Goes Directly to Your Clinic
Membership payments are created directly in your clinic's connected Stripe account. The payment belongs to that account, and Stripe pays out the available funds to your clinic's linked bank account according to its payout schedule. Übik does not collect the dues into its own account and then send your clinic a transfer. This follows Stripe's direct-charge model.
A direct payment to your Stripe account is different from an immediate bank deposit. Stripe's processing costs, settlement timing, account requirements, and payout schedule still apply. You can check your bank details and expected deposits in Stripe; see Stripe's payout guide.
Customer Memberships is included with an active Übik subscription, with a 2% platform fee on membership payments billed through your clinic's regular Übik subscription. For new membership signups, Übik bills that fee separately rather than deducting it as a Connect application fee from the customer's membership payment. Stripe's own applicable fees are separate.
For example, a paid membership invoice of 300 MXN generates a 6 MXN Übik platform fee to be billed through your Übik subscription. The membership payment is received in your connected Stripe account, subject to Stripe's fees and payout rules.
Four Parts That Work Together
| Part | What you configure | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Stripe connected account | Your clinic's business, verification, and payout details | Receives membership payments and pays out to your bank |
| Stripe Product and recurring Price | What you sell, the amount, currency, and billing interval | Defines the recurring charge the customer agrees to |
| Übik Membership Plan | A name, description, active state, and selected Stripe Price | Connects that recurring charge to a plan in Übik |
| Übik promotions linked to the plan | The discount or special price, eligible products/services, and Membership Plans | Defines the benefits staff can apply to the customer's bill |
The recurring dues and the visit's bill are separate. Paying the dues establishes the membership; staff apply the appropriate benefit to qualifying charges when the customer visits.
Build the benefits around your clinic
Übik's promotion tools support fixed or percentage discounts, selected services or products, inventory groups, and special price overrides. A plan can have several linked promotions, and a promotion can be linked to more than one plan.
For example, a Wellness Monthly plan could link to a 100% discount on a specific consultation service and a 10% discount on a selected inventory group. A higher tier could have different linked benefits. If you offer monthly and annual billing, create the corresponding recurring Stripe Prices and a separate Übik Membership Plan for each price.
Be clear about what your clinic promises: included services, exclusions, usage frequency, and cancellation terms. Übik shows recorded perk uses in the current membership billing period so staff can review usage before applying a benefit. Writing “one consultation per month” in a plan description does not itself create an automatic redemption limit. Staff need to follow the plan's terms and check the usage shown.
Setup Guide: From Stripe Onboarding to the First Bill
1. Decide what the membership includes
Choose a clear plan name, recurring amount, currency, billing frequency, and benefits. Identify the actual services or inventory groups that each promotion will target.
For the example below, use Wellness Monthly — 300 MXN per month, with an included consultation benefit and 10% off a selected product group. These are illustrative prices and benefits; set yours to match your clinic.
Have an administrator handle account setup. Staff enrolling customers need permission to edit customers; staff configuring plans and promotions also need the relevant Accounting access.
2. Ask Übik to start the Stripe connection
Contact the Übik team to arrange your clinic's Stripe connected account onboarding link. This connection currently requires team assistance; switching on Customer Memberships does not create it automatically.
Confirm your clinic's account email and country with the team. Open the onboarding link supplied for your clinic. If it expires, ask for a fresh link to continue setup on the same connected account. If you already use Stripe, tell the team before setup so they can confirm which account this integration will use.
You do not need to create your own Stripe Connect platform or configure API keys and webhooks. Those are handled by the Übik team.
3. Complete onboarding and create the recurring price in Stripe
First, finish your clinic's Stripe setup:
- Complete the business and representative details Stripe requests. Supply any identity or business verification requested for your country and business type.
- Add and confirm the bank account that should receive your clinic's payouts.
- Resolve outstanding Stripe requirements. Have the Übik team confirm that the connected account is ready to accept charges and send payouts before inviting customers.
- Sign in to the Stripe Dashboard for the clinic account connected to Übik. If you have several accounts, check the account selector. Use live mode for real memberships; coordinate any sandbox testing with Übik.
Then, create what customers will buy:
- Open Product catalog in Stripe, under More if needed, and choose Add product or Create product.
- Name the product, such as Wellness Monthly, and add a customer-friendly description.
- Add a Recurring, flat-rate price. Set the amount, currency, and billing period; for this example, 300 MXN / Monthly. Pricing options may be under Advanced pricing options or More pricing options.
- Save the price and product, and keep the price active.
- Repeat for other tiers or billing intervals. For annual billing, add an annual recurring price.
Stripe's product and price guide explains the Dashboard fields. Übik lists existing recurring prices from the connected account; its Membership Plan editor does not create Stripe products or prices.
Create the price in the connected clinic account and the correct mode. A price in a different Stripe account, or a sandbox-only price during live setup, will not be available for that clinic's live membership plans. Do not create a separate Stripe subscription manually for this walkthrough; the customer's Übik signup link will start it with the correct customer and plan connection.
4. Enable Customer Memberships in Übik
- Sign in as an administrator and open Account Settings.
- Expand Subscription and Payments, turn on Customer Memberships, and save.
- Confirm that Accounting → Membership Plans and the customer's Memberships tab are available.
The switch requires an active Übik subscription. If it is unavailable, review the subscription with your administrator or the Übik team.
5. Create the Übik Membership Plan
- Go to the Dashboard and open the left navigation menu. Expand Accounting, select Membership Plans, and click the + button.
- Enter the plan's Name and Description. State the benefits and usage terms clearly.
- Turn on Active so the plan is available for signup.
- In Stripe Price, select the recurring price you created. Check its product name, amount, currency, and interval.
- Click Save.
Repeat for other tiers or prices. Once saved, a plan's summary shows member totals and its attached promotions. If no prices load, verify the connected account, completed onboarding, live/sandbox mode, and whether the price is active and recurring; ask Übik for help if it still does not appear.
6. Create and link the benefit promotions
- Go to the Dashboard and open the left navigation menu. Expand Accounting and select Promotion search. Click + to create a benefit, or open an existing promotion to edit it.
- Enter a clear Name and turn on Active.
- Select the Type and Amount. For the consultation example, choose Percent Discount Service, enter 100, and select the exact consultation in Service.
- In Membership Plans, select Wellness Monthly. Select additional plans only if they should share this benefit.
- Click Save.
- Create the product benefit separately: choose Percent Discount Inventory Group, enter 10, select the intended Inventory Group, link the plan, and save.
- Reopen the Membership Plan and check Promotions attached.
The link is set on each promotion, in its Membership Plans field. Creating the plan alone does not add benefits. These are Übik bill promotions; you do not need Stripe coupons or promotion codes for them.
For a special member price, an Override Cost of Service promotion sets the target service price. For a fixed discount, use the appropriate fixed-amount discount type. Check the promotion's preview and the target carefully: a service benefit should affect that service, while a total-bill discount has a broader scope.
7. Enroll a customer through Übik
- Open the correct customer record and confirm the customer's email address.
- Go to Memberships → Send Signup Link.
- Select the active Membership Plan and send the link.
- The customer opens the email, reviews the recurring price and billing interval, and completes the Stripe-hosted checkout.
- Return to the customer's Memberships tab and confirm the plan, membership status, and current period end after Stripe's confirmation reaches Übik.
Sending a link does not activate a membership. If a completed payment is visible in Stripe but the membership does not update in Übik, contact support before sending another signup link or creating another subscription.
8. Apply a member benefit to the bill
- Open payment checkout for the correct customer's appointment or sale, with the actual services and products already charged.
- In Memberships, review the eligible benefits, period use counts, and last-used dates.
- Click Apply beside the benefit you intend to redeem. Eligible promotions also carry a Member label in the promotion picker and appear in the charge's Promotions menu where applicable.
- Review the saved promotion adjustment and the remaining amount due. Apply another benefit only if it is allowed by the plan and appropriate for this bill.
- Collect the remaining balance using the normal payment flow, and review the receipt.
Übik records the applied benefit as a promotion payment/adjustment linked to the promotion. This reduces the amount due on the bill; it does not collect the recurring membership dues again.
Example: A bill has one qualifying consultation charged at 500 MXN and products totaling 200 MXN in the selected inventory group. Applying the consultation benefit reduces the balance by 500 MXN; applying the 10% product benefit reduces it by 20 MXN. With no other charges, adjustments, or payments, the remaining balance is 180 MXN. The separate 300 MXN monthly membership payment stays in Stripe's subscription billing flow.
Review every affected appointment if checkout includes several bills. A targeted promotion uses the matching charges; its name alone does not restrict quantities or make unrelated items eligible.
9. Review the first membership and keep it healthy
After the first completed signup and benefit redemption, check:
- Stripe: the correct connected account received the membership payment and has the intended payout bank details.
- Customer → Memberships: the plan, status, period dates, and recent perk uses look correct.
- The visit's bill: the intended promotion adjustment and remaining payment are correct.
- Customer Analytics → Memberships: review membership activity, dues revenue, and promotion value when assessing the plan's performance.
Übik updates membership status from Stripe. Eligible benefits include active memberships and memberships within the configured payment-failure grace period. If benefits are missing, check the actual status, active promotion, linked plan, matching bill items, and account settings before granting a manual discount.
To stop a customer's membership, use Customer → Memberships → Cancel membership and confirm. Übik schedules cancellation for the end of the current billing period. Check the Cancels at period end indicator; contact support for immediate cancellation or refund questions.
